A man passed away in a recent Louisiana car crash. The accident occurred on a Wednesday afternoon. When motor vehicle accidents occur due to the negligence of a driver, the fatal victim's surviving family members typically have the right to take legal action.
The vehicle collision occurred along Louisiana Highway 82 at about 4 p.m. Police said an automobile was going west on the highway and suddenly breached the road's center line. The vehicle entered the lane going east and was hit by a truck.
According to police, the driver of the vehicle did have a safety belt on and suffered injuries deemed moderate. Meanwhile, a 21-year-old man was riding in the vehicle's front seat and was not wearing a seatbelt. He was pronounced dead at the accident scene. The truck driver also had a safety belt on and suffered no injuries. Police did not know why the vehicle driver went over the center line of the road.
The family members of the man who passed away in this Louisiana crash may choose to file a wrongful death claim against the vehicle driver, seeking the reimbursement of monetary damages. Competent proof of negligence on the part of the driver is necessary to establish liability to the satisfaction of the civil court hearing the case. Once that is accomplished, claims for specific financial damages can be considered. A financial award in a successfully litigated case may help to cover funeral costs and other monetary losses typically stemming from these types of fatal motor vehicle accidents.
