Walking can be an enjoyable and healthy past time for many Louisiana residents. However, it is not without its dangers as the news is often reporting on the latest victims of pedestrian accidents. Recently, one man was killed in one of these tragic accidents.
According to the police report, the accident occurred in the early evening hours on a recent weekday. The victim, a 31-year-old man was apparently attempting to cross a local road when he was hit by a pickup truck. Emergency crews were called to the scene but the victim died as a result of the accident.
The 58-year-old driver of the truck did remain on the scene of the collision. He was taken to a local medical facility to have a state mandated toxicology test performed. Police stated that the man did not appear to be suffering from impairment, though the test results were unknown at the time of the report.
Louisiana police have not completed their investigation into this deadly accident. The victim's surviving family may gather any evidence that points to what may have lead to this fatal tragedy in order to file a wrongful death suit against the responsible party. These pedestrian accidents leave the families with emotional wounds and often monetary losses through the costs associated with final expenses and lost income. If these types of litigation are decided in the family's favor, then the resulting compensation may allow the family to recover financially while concentrating on trying to recover emotionally from the loss of their loved one.
