Accident involving negligent driver claims life of Louisiana man

While certain rear-end collisions may involve little more than mild soreness for the victims and minor damage to vehicles, in some cases, they can be devastating. Many individuals have suffered serious harm under similar circumstances at the hand of a negligent driver. A recent rear-end collision in Louisiana has claimed the life of a 59-year-old man and left another facing criminal charges in relation.

According to Louisiana State Police, the incident took place on an interstate just before 2 a.m. on a recent Sunday. The man was travelling west when another vehicle suddenly slammed into his car from behind. The impact forced his car off the road, where it crashed into a tree and overturned. He suffered serious injuries in the process and was rushed to a medical facility soon thereafter. However, he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.

Authorities claim the other driver did not stop at the scene and reportedly failed to notify authorities or return to help the man. They were able to locate her a short distance from the site of the collision, and they assert that she was taken into custody after failing to perform field sobriety tests in a satisfactory manner. According to reports, she is facing multiple charges in relation to the incident, including vehicular homicide and felony hit and run.

Losing a loved one in an accident can be a difficult thing to accept, especially if the loss is due to the actions of a negligent driver. Those who suffer under similar circumstances may wish to hold the responsible party accountable through the civil justice system, but the process can be intimidating, potentially prompting a need for assistance. By speaking with an attorney, a client in Louisiana could obtain assistance in pursuing the full amount of compensation deserved through a claim against the party deemed at fault.
