Family laments wrongful death of man; seeking answers from driver

The unexpected loss of a loved one in a preventable accident is understandably devastating. When the motorist believed responsible for such a collision flees the scene without rendering aid, the tragedy is often compounded. A Louisiana family finds themselves waiting for answers after a family member became a victim of what appears to have been a wrongful death accident.

The accident occurred on a recent week night. The victim was riding his bicycle, which family members claim was equipped with a working headlight. The driver who struck the man fled the scene without summoning aid for the victim. A sister said she was first at the scene and spotted her brother lying along the side of the road.

The woman said that she cradled his body until emergency responders arrived to transport him to a local hospital. Other family members feel that the man may have been saved if the driver had at least called for assistance before leaving the scene. Police are still searching for clues as to the identity of the driver.

Louisiana officials are asking for anyone with knowledge about the crash to report it or call the crime solvers hotline. Family members are beseeching the driver to come forward so that they can finally have closure and answers as to how the fatal collision happened. Families who find themselves in these nightmare situations are often burdened with enormous financial obligations from final expenses and associated losses. Once a responsible party is identified, surviving family may elect to pursue recovery of their documented damages through a wrongful death civil lawsuit.
