Biography

Oliver Smith, III, is a 2004 cum laude graduate of Southern University Law Center, where he was a Moot Court Board Member. Prior to law school, Mr. Smith earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Louisiana State University, where he achieved Dean’s List honors, was a cornerback on the LSU Tigers football team, and earned Academic All–Southeastern Conference honors in 2001.

After graduating from law school, Mr. Smith practiced law with several New Orleans law firms specializing in pharmaceutical litigation and insurance defense before becoming an Assistant District Attorney with the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office. As a prosecutor, Mr. Smith gained invaluable trial experience, prosecuting hundreds of cases and handling numerous judge and jury trials.

Since 2010, Mr. Smith has focused his practice on advocating for injured parties and has operated a successful litigation practice representing a wide range of clients. His work includes coordinating with investigators, government entities, courts, and opposing counsel, as well as negotiating and resolving matters both prior to and through litigation before judges and juries.

In addition to maintaining his private practice, Mr. Smith served in various roles with the Housing Authority of New Orleans (HANO) from 2011 to 2019. During the final two years of his tenure, he served as Assistant Director of the Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCVP). Previously, he worked as a HANO Compliance Specialist, where he focused on interpreting and applying federal and local housing statutes and collaborated with the HUD Office of Inspector General to enforce applicable provisions of the Code of Federal Regulations. After working for the Housing Authority of New Orleans, Mr. Smith joined Frischhertz & Impastato in November of 2019 and has pursued the best possible recovery for his clients with passion and dedication.

Mr. Smith has been an active member of the legal community as a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association since 2005. He has served as Vice President of the Greater New Orleans Louis A. Martinet Legal Society, Inc. He is an active member of the New Orleans Bar Association and its Foundation.

Mr. Smith resides in New Orleans with his wife, Kevin, a labor law attorney, and their two children.
