1 dead, 2 injured in tragic Louisiana car accident

On Behalf of | Apr 30, 2021 | Motor Vehicle Accidents

A Louisiana woman was killed in a tragic motor vehicle accident. Her loved ones likely have more questions than answers right now, including how the fatal car accident could have happened. Sometimes these types of crashes occur as a result of a driver’s carelessness, which is grounds for litigation.

How the accident took place

The recent accident happened at about 6:15 p.m. on a Thursday along Louisiana Highway 121. According to authorities, a 25-year-old man was driving north on the highway and suddenly breached the road’s middle line. He then reportedly struck a car traveling in the highway’s southbound lane.

A woman, age 29, was driving the second car and died in the head-on collision. The man who reportedly caused the accident survived the accident, and so did a child was riding in one of the cars. They were taken to a medical center for the treatment of their injuries. Authorities continue to investigate the collision.

How an attorney can help following a wreck

The surviving loved ones of the woman who passed away in this Louisiana crash may opt to file a wrongful death claim against the man who is said to have caused the accident. In addition, a personal injury claim may be filed on behalf of the child who was injured in the accident. Liability has to be formally established, based upon a showing of negligence, before any claims for damages are adjudicated. If the plaintiffs are successful, they may receive damages to cover their burial costs, medical care costs and other financial losses associated with the wreck.
