Two-car collision results in one death and severely injures another

On Behalf of | Jun 25, 2021 | Motor Vehicle Accidents

A Louisiana man’s life has sadly been cut short in an unfortunate motor vehicle crash. In addition, a woman suffered injuries in the crash, which occurred along Louisiana Highway 621. Sometimes, these types of accidents are the result of a driver’s carelessness, which is grounds for litigation.

How the accident happened

The recent fatal collision occurred at a little before 10:30 p.m. on a Saturday. According to police, a man, 19, was driving east along the highway. All of a sudden, he reportedly breached the road’s middle line and hit another motor vehicle head-on.

Police said a woman who was driving the second car suffered moderate injuries in the crash. She was therefore taken to a nearby medical center for treatment. An infant who was riding in the back seat did not suffer any injuries in the collision. Authorities continued to investigate the cause of the accident.

How an attorney can help following these incidents

The woman who suffered injuries in the tragic incident may opt to file a personal injury claim, seeking the reimbursement of monetary damages sustained in the collision. Even though the man who allegedly caused the crash passed away in the collision, his estate could still be sued. Likewise, anyone with an ownership interest in the car he was operating at the time of the crash may be named in her lawsuit. If she is successful in a Louisiana civil court, she may receive financial damages to cover her medical expenses and even the loss of wages if her injuries prevented her from returning to work for a time after the accident.
