Louisiana motor vehicle collision claims 2 lives

On Behalf of | Oct 15, 2021 | Motor Vehicle Accidents

Two men have sadly lost their lives in a tragic car collision. The accident took place early in the morning along Louisiana Highway 30. Sometimes, these types of crashes happen as a result of driver negligence, which can be grounds for litigation.

How the accident occurred

The recent crash took place at about 7 a.m. According to police, a 24-year-old man was driving a car north along Louisiana Highway 30 near Louisiana Highway 327. All of a sudden, he reportedly breached the road’s middle line and hit an 18-wheeler heading south.

Both the driver of the car and his 53-year-old passenger passed away at the scene of the accident. Meanwhile, the driver of the 18-wheeler suffered no injuries in the crash. Police continued to investigate the cause of the crash.

Seeking help and support in the aftermath of these incidents

The surviving family members of the car passenger who died in the tragic accident may opt to file a wrongful death claim against the car driver, seeking the reimbursement of damages sustained in the crash. If the family members can establish liability in civil court, based upon a showing of negligence, then a judge will decide the claim for damages. A successfully fought claim may lead to damages to cover the deceased passenger’s burial expenses and other related costs, such as the loss of support for any surviving dependents of the passenger. No amount of money can undo the events that led up to the fatal accident, but it may help the deceased passenger’s surviving loved ones to more easily move forward from the crash.
