Those who venture out on Louisiana roadways these days face many dangers and risks. There are more drivers than ever before across the state. The actions of other drivers are completely unpredictable, especially with distracted or impaired drivers continuing to be a major problem here. These days, it seems like car accidents are virtually inevitable.
Serious accident
Recently, a local celebrity chef was badly injured in a serious accident in Monroe. The crash happened during the afternoon hours on DeSiard Street. According to reports, the chef’s pickup truck was hit from behind by a driver traveling at a high rate of speed. The violent impact caused the chef’s truck to flip twice and crash into a nearby building.
Impaired driver
The truck was crushed against the building, but reports said the chef managed to climb out of the truck through the windshield. He was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, authorities said. Police said the driver of the other vehicle did not know where he was, couldn’t speak and emitted a strong order of phencyclidine (PCP). He was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, among other serious charges.
According to recent statistics, driver related errors are the cause of nearly 90% of car accidents. When the negligence of another driver causes injuries or death in an accident, victims and surviving family members reserve the right to take legal action and contact a skilled litigator. Damages from a successful lawsuit could provide much-needed compensation to help victims and families get through such a traumatic experience.
