As the United States economy continues to grow, it seems that there are more tractor-trailers on the road than ever before. Interstates and highways across the state of Louisiana are heavily utilized by tractor-trailers at all hours of the day. Tractor-trailers are massive vehicles and are often very intimidating and dangerous for motorists in smaller passenger vehicles. Because the rigs are so big, truck accidents have a higher chance of being serious or fatal.
Recently, a crash on a heavily-traveled section of roadway in West Baton Rouge injured several people and claimed the life of a truck driver. The accident happened along the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 just before noon. According to reports, the driver of a chartered bus was attempting to slow down to a stop and a tractor-trailer slammed into it. Reports said the impact knocked the bus into the back of another tractor-trailer.
Injury and death
Reportedly, there were around 40 passengers on the bus and three of them suffered injuries. Authorities said the driver of the tractor-trailer that hit the bus tragically died in the crash. Law enforcement officers said the stretch of Interstate 10 where the crash occurred is infamous for frequent accidents, many of them involving tractor-trailers.
Accidents involving tractor-trailers and other commercial trucks are responsible for thousands of deaths and injuries every year across the country. Those in Louisiana who have suffered injury or loss due to negligence in truck accidents may want to consider seeking the services of an experienced legal representative. A lawsuit, if successful, could result in financial relief to aid in the recovery of victims and families.
