A woman’s life has sadly been lost due to a tragic car crash in Point Coupee Parish. In addition, six people suffered serious injuries in the two-car crash. Sometimes, these kinds of collisions occur due to negligent driving, in which case the reportedly at-fault driver may be held responsible for any injuries or deaths resulting from the crash.
How the car wreck occurred
The tragic crash took place on a recent Monday night along Louisiana Highway 78. According to authorities, an individual was driving a car west along the highway with five passengers. Meanwhile, a 27-year-old woman was driving a car east on the highway.
All of a sudden, the first car’s driver reportedly breached the road’s middle line and entered the opposite lane. The first then allegedly struck the second car head-on. The woman driving the second car sadly passed away in the collision. Meanwhile the six individuals in the first car were critically injured in the crash. Five of these six individuals were under 14 years of age.
Seeking legal help and support after these tragedies
The surviving family members of the woman who died in the Louisiana head-on wreck may opt to file a wrongful death claim against the first car’s driver, seeking the reimbursement of monetary damages. Likewise, personal injury claims may be filed on behalf of the injured passengers in the first car. If the plaintiffs prevail in their claims, they may be awarded monetary damages to cover funeral costs, medical expenses and other losses stemming from the accident.
