A woman’s life was sadly cut short in a recent car accident. In addition, a second individual was injured in the single-car crash, which took place early in the morning on a Friday along Interstate 10. Sometimes, these types of accidents occur due to a driver’s carelessness, in which case, the reportedly at-fault driver may be held liable for any injuries or deaths resulting from the wreck.
How the crash happened
The tragic accident occurred at a little past 1 a.m. According to police, a car was going west along the interstate and suddenly struck a tree after leaving the highway. A 22-year-old woman was reportedly riding in the front seat and ended up being thrown from the car due to the impact of the collision.
Police said the female passenger was pronounced deceased at the accident scene. Meanwhile, the driver of the car suffered serious injuries and was taken to a medical center. Authorities continued to investigate the cause of the collision.
Where to turn for help and support
The family members of the woman who died in the car crash may choose to file a wrongful death claim against the driver of the car, seeking the reimbursement of monetary damages sustained in the crash. They must establish liability before the civil court, based upon a showing of negligence, before a Louisiana judge will adjudicate their claim for damages. If they are successful, they may receive a monetary damage award to cover their deceased loved one’s burial costs and other losses related to the tragic accident.
