A man’s life has sadly been snuffed out in a car crash in Louisiana. Meanwhile, a second man suffered injuries in the crash. The accident took place early in the morning on a Monday along Louisiana Highway 429.
Events leading up to the accident
The recent wreck in Gonzales took place at about 5:30 a.m. According to authorities, a 50-year-old man was driving in the highway’s southbound lane and entered an intersection. Unfortunately, a 25-year-old man reportedly ignored a stoplight in the intersection and crashed into the older man’s automobile.
Police said the older man passed away at the accident scene. Meanwhile, the younger man was transported to a medical center with moderate injuries. Authorities reported that the younger man might have also been connected to another accident — a hit-and-run collision — that occurred nearby. They continued to investigate the cause of the Louisiana Highway 429 collision.
How an attorney can help
The family members of the man who died in the Louisiana crash may choose to file a wrongful death claim against the man who allegedly caused the accident, seeking the reimbursement of monetary damages. If the reportedly at-fault man ends up being criminally charged and then convicted on the charge in connection with the fatal accident, proof of this may be presented in civil court in an effort to establish liability in the accident. If the deceased man’s surviving family members are successful, they might be awarded financial damages to cover their loved one’s burial costs and other losses resulting from the tragic collision.
