Louisiana collision claims 1 life and injures another

On Behalf of | Aug 26, 2022 | Motor Vehicle Accidents

A man has sadly lost his life in a tragic accident involving two cars. In addition, a woman was injured in the collision that occurred early in the morning on a recent Saturday. Sometimes these types of crashes occur as a result of driver negligence, in which case the reportedly at-fault driver might be held liable for any injuries or deaths resulting from the wreck.

Details of the unfortunate incident

The Evangeline Parish crash took place at about 2:30 a.m. along Louisiana Highway 3042. According to authorities, a 22-year-old man was driving a car south on the highway. Meanwhile, a 33-year-old woman was driving north on the road.

All of a sudden, the woman’s car reportedly breached the highway’s middle line and entered the man’s path. Police said the woman’s car then struck the man’s automobile head-on. The man was pronounced deceased at the accident scene. The woman survived the crash but suffered moderate injuries and was therefore taken to a medical center. Police continued to investigate the cause of the accident.

Legal recourse is possible following these accidents

The surviving loved ones of the man who passed away in the accident may choose to file a wrongful death claim against the woman who allegedly caused the Louisiana accident, seeking the reimbursement of monetary damages. Liability has to be established in civil court, based upon a showing of negligence, before any claim for damages will be adjudicated. A claim that is fought successfully may result in financial damages to cover the man’s burial costs and even provide support for his surviving dependents.
