Negligent truck driver causes four-vehicle collision in Louisiana

While every collision has the potential to place the safety of those nearby in harm's way, those involving commercial vehicles generally run a much higher risk of ending in catastrophe. Many individuals have suffered serious injuries under similar circumstances; in some cases, this may occur due to the actions of a negligent truck driver. A recent accident involving two semis in Louisiana has claimed the life of two individuals, and left several others with injuries.

The incident occurred at around 2 a.m. on a recent Monday morning, when the driver of a tractor-trailer failed to stop in time struck another semi that was stopped at a nearby traffic light. The force of the initial impact caused the second semi to hit another vehicle before overturning and coming to a rest in the median. There were two individuals in the first truck at the time of the accident, both of whom were pronounced dead soon thereafter.

No information was provided as to what may have led the man to fail to notice a halt in traffic, and an investigation into the incident is reportedly underway. With strict schedules leading to long hours on the road, truck drivers may be more prone to distraction or fatigue. Negligence in the operation of such a large vehicle can be dangerous, and may leave others to suffer the consequences.

Individuals who suffer serious injuries in a collision involving a seemingly negligent truck driver may be entitled to restitution, but they might be uncertain how to pursue this goal. Those who experience a similar situation could speak with an experienced attorney for advice on the best course of action with which to proceed. An attorney can evaluate the circumstances surrounding the accident and assist a client in Louisiana in pursuing the full amount of compensation deserved through a claim against the party or parties deemed responsible.
