A recent collision between a motorcycle and car has reportedly claimed the life of a 40-year-old woman in Louisiana. Many motorcycle accidents occur when another vehicle fails to yield the right-of-way and the results of a similar incident can be calamitous. Riders who encounter such negligence may find it difficult to maneuver by a motor vehicle, and they could end up suffering the consequences.
Louisiana State Police advised the incident occurred at around 6 a.m. on a recent Wednesday. The results of initial investigations suggest that the woman was riding her motorcycle south when another vehicle failed to yield and struck her bike. The woman was reportedly tossed off the bike in the process and she was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash soon thereafter.
Although toxicology samples were taken from each party, authorities have advised that impairment does not appear to have been a contributing factor. No further information was provided as to what might have caused the crash to occur, and the investigation into the incident reportedly remains underway. Authorities have advised that the other driver was issued a citation for failure to yield and that additional charges are currently pending.
Motorcycle accidents can be disastrous incidents that have a higher chance of resulting in serious or fatal harm to those involved. If the other driver is at fault, the surviving family members of the deceased could choose to consult with an attorney for guidance on their available legal avenues. An attorney in Louisiana can assist a client in pursuing the full amount of compensation entitled through a wrongful death lawsuit.
