It goes without saying that no person wants to be involved in a crash. Out of all the different types of collisions, head-on collisions are some of the deadliest. What makes a head-on crash so deadly is the force at which the vehicles collide. It’s like hitting a brick wall full force. A recent head-on crash in Terrebonne Parish claimed the lives of four people.
The crash happened at night on Louisiana Highway 182 near Houma. According to accident reports, the driver of an eastbound sedan was traveling at a high rate of speed and attempted to pass another eastbound vehicle in a no-passing zone. The driver steered into the westbound lanes to make the pass and violently collided head-on with a westbound sedan.
Authorities said the driver and passenger in the westbound sedan were both pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The driver and passenger in the eastbound sedan were severely injured and taken to a hospital where they both died a short time later. Although the accident is still under investigation, police said they suspect impairment and reckless driving to be factors in the accident.
Thousands of motorists in Louisiana and across the United States are killed or injured every year in car accidents caused by negligent drivers. Any time a Louisiana resident suffers the loss of a loved one as the result of negligence in a car accident, he or she has every right to consult an experienced attorney and file a claim. A successful wrongful death lawsuit could end in a substantial monetary award to help families pay end-of-life expenses.
