A woman’s life has sadly been lost due to a tragic car crash in Louisiana. In addition, another woman is expected to face criminal charges in connection with the fatal crash. The two-car accident took place on a recent Saturday afternoon.

Events leading up to the accident

The tragic wreck occurred at about 4:30 p.m. along Louisiana Highway 13. According to police, a woman was driving on the highway and breached the road’s middle line, entering oncoming traffic. The woman then reportedly overcorrected and ended up spinning her automobile into another car’s path.

Authorities said the first car then struck the second car on the driver’s side. The crash’s impact killed the female driver of the second car and sent the woman who was driving the first car to a medical center with critical injuries. Police said that charges were pending against the injured driver.

Legal recourse is possible following these accidents

The family members of the woman who died in the Louisiana crash may opt to file a wrongful death claim against the injured woman who allegedly caused the accident. If the woman ends up being charged for her role in the accident, proof of the charges may be presented in civil court in an effort to establish liability in the crash. If the plaintiffs can establish liability based upon a showing of negligence, a judge will adjudicate their claim for damages. A monetary damage award may help with covering the deceased woman’s burial costs, support for any surviving dependents and other accident-related losses.
