2 injured in single-car crash in Louisiana

On Behalf of | Jun 17, 2022 | Motor Vehicle Accidents

Two people were recently injured in a car crash in Louisiana. The accident took place on a Thursday along Interstate 20. One of the two individuals was later arrested on an attempted murder charge in connection with the car accident.

How the unfortunate incident happened

According to police, a woman was driving a car on the interstate, and a 52-year-old man was riding with her. All of a sudden, the man reportedly became irate with the woman and purposely affected her steering wheel. This allegedly caused the woman to crash the car.

Following the collision, both the man and the woman were transported to a medical center with injuries considered not to be life threatening. A month later, the man was arrested for allegedly causing the injury accident. He now faces a charge of attempted murder in the second degree.

How an attorney can help following these situations

The woman may opt to file a personal injury claim against the man, seeking the reimbursement of monetary damages sustained in the unfortunate crash. If the man ends up being convicted on his criminal charge, proof of the conviction may be presented in a Louisiana civil court with the aim of establishing liability in the wreck. If the woman is awarded damages in her case, she may use the monetary award to cover her hospital bills and other losses stemming from the motor vehicle accident, such as the loss of wages if her accident-related injuries prevented her from returning to work for an extended period of time.
