Fatal accident claims 3 lives in Louisiana

On Behalf of | Jul 1, 2022 | Motor Vehicle Accidents

Three people have sadly lost their lives in a tragic collision in Lafourche Parish. The recent accident occurred early in the morning on a Sunday along Louisiana Highway 308. Sometimes, these types of collisions happen as a result of driver negligence, which can be grounds for litigation.

Events leading up to the wreck

The tragic accident took place at about 5 a.m. Police said that a 47-year-old man was driving a pickup truck north on the highway while a 44-year-old man was driving a car south along the highway. All of a sudden, the older man’s vehicle reportedly breached the road’s middle line and entered the younger man’s path.

Police said the younger man tried to avoid the crash, but the older man’s truck still hit him. Both men and the passenger in the younger man’s car passed away at the scene of the accident. Authorities continued to investigate the cause of the fatal wreck.

Legal recourse may be possible following the accident

The surviving loved ones of the younger man and his car passenger may opt to file wrongful death claims, seeking the reimbursement of monetary damages sustained in the Louisiana crash. Even though the older man who allegedly caused the accident died as a result of hit, the claims may still be filed against his estate and against anybody else with an ownership interest in the pickup truck he was driving at the time of the collision. Monetary damages that are awarded in a successfully litigated claim may help with covering the deceased victims’ funeral costs as well as the loss of support for their surviving dependents.
