It’s no secret that New Orleans is one of the most popular and most visited cities in the United States. With first-class dining and world-renowned entertainment, there is no shortage of things to do in this Louisiana city. City sidewalks and streets are bustling with traffic at all hours of the day. However, it also seems that car accidents are on the rise here.
Details of the deadly crash
Recently in New Orleans East, a tragic accident claimed the lives of two people. The fatal crash happened during the early evening hours at the intersection of Edgelake Court and Haynes Boulevard. According to accident reports, an SUV that was headed north on Edgelake Court entered the intersection and crashed into a vehicle that was traveling east on Haynes Boulevard.
Reports from the New Orleans Police Department said officers arrived on the scene to find three people had been involved in the crash. Reportedly, the driver of the eastbound vehicle died on the scene while a passenger who was in the eastbound vehicle died while being transported to the hospital. The driver of the SUV was injured and taken to a hospital but is in stable condition, authorities said.
Victims and families have options available
It goes without saying that no person truly expects or wants to be involved in a serious accident. However, thousands of car accidents happen every year across the state of Louisiana. Those in Louisiana who have suffered injuries or the crushing loss of a dear loved one in an accident caused by negligence have the right to speak with a skilled litigator and pursue legal recourse. A successfully litigated lawsuit could result in a substantial monetary award.
